AVID 12
AVID is a national program that is intended to help students who come from families that have not traditionally attended college or who come from underrepresented groups at the university level. According to AVID, "Improving students' critical thinking, reading, and writing abilities allows them to participate and succeed in courses of high rigor and better prepares them for postsecondary access and success."
Our purpose in AVID Senior Seminar to is help with identifying the colleges that suit your goals and needs. During the first quarter of the school year we work on college applications and personal statements. Second semester will be dedicated to financial aid issues that that should be addressed prior to college acceptance. Second semester will shift to college readiness including but not limited to: expectations for college freshmen, understanding college scheduling and courses, financial literacy and general life skills.
